The PCAN-Router Pro FD connects the data streams of new CAN FD and classic CAN buses through six channels. The pluggable CAN transceiver modules allow flexible adaptation to the specific requirements of each CAN channel. Furthermore, this router is equipped with one analog input and four digital I/Os. CAN messages can be recorded in internal storage or on an inserted memory card, and they can be directly exported via USB to a PC.

 

With the PCAN-Router Pro FD, you can manage, monitor, and control data streams in testing environments and production facilities. The conversion from CAN to CAN FD or vice versa allows the integration of new CAN FD applications into existing CAN 2.0 networks. The PCAN-Router Pro FD can be individually programmed for configuration. Firmware is created using the included GNU compiler development kit for C and C++, and it can be transferred to the module via CAN. Various programming examples (such as message forwarding or recording) assist in implementing your own solutions.

 

In addition to editable routines, the PCAN-Router Pro FD development kit includes firmware for immediate use in recording CAN data. CAN messages can be recorded in the internal eMMC storage (with 16GB of storage space) or an external SD card, and both can be read via USB. Programming the data recording function for all six CAN channels of the PCAN-Router Pro FD requires a Windows development kit with GCC ARM Embedded, and the formatting won't be affected during configuration updates.

There are three triggering modes: power-on triggering and manual triggering. Manual triggering includes the Log Off Card button (external button) and remote packet triggering. The packet cannot be used for communication.

 

The record mode is also configurable, mainly with linear substitution (when a new record is started, the existing record file is deleted; When the memory is full, the record will stop), linear overwrite (when a new record is started, the existing record file will be preserved; When the memory is full, the record will stop), loop overwrite (when a new record starts, the existing record file will be retained; When the memory is full, the original file is deleted and a new file with a larger file number is created. This is the default mode) of these three.

 

When recording data, you can also record the file in CSV format. Of course, you can also convert the recorded message file into another format, such as ASC, using PEAK-Convter, which is provided free of cost by the company, and is compatible with analysis software such as CANoe and VSPY.
