[Hongke Solutions] The New Normal in Telemedicine: How Are AR Smart Glasses Reshaping Remote Consultations and Surgical Collaboration Workflows?

The core value of AR in smart healthcare lies in enabling medical staff to access information, share first-person views, and connect with remote experts—all without using their hands. For hospitals, healthcare groups, educational institutions, and medical device companies in Hong Kong, AR can serve as an on-site platform for remote collaboration, procedural guidance, training documentation, and technical support.

Hongke's AR medical solution consists of Vuzix AR smart glasses, a remote collaboration platform, and enterprise deployment services. It can be applied in scenarios such as pre-hospital emergency care, remote consultations, intraoperative guidance, medical training, remote monitoring, and medical device after-sales support.

01 Application Background

During medical treatments and surgeries where every second counts, experts are often unable to be physically present due to geographical constraints. Traditional video consultations (such as those using handheld tablets or fixed cameras) have serious drawbacks:
1. Limited camera angle
2. The viewfinder may have difficulty focusing
3. Healthcare workers are unable to keep their hands free to focus on their work

To overcome geographical and technical barriers, Hongke has launched an AR-based remote medical collaboration solution. Through a lightweight Vuzix Smart Glasses Pairings S Med Telemedicine Platform...enabling on-site medical staff and remote experts to establish a seamless, real-time, first-person perspective collaboration mechanism.

02 Creating Seamless First-Person Collaboration

1.First-Person View Real-Time Sharing

Vuzix smart glasses are equipped with high-resolution cameras that instantly transmit high-definition "first-person view" footage from on-site medical staff to the S Med platform. Remote experts—whether in the office or at a remote location—can view real-time medical consultations and surgical procedures via a computer or mobile device.

2.Fully Voice-Controlled Operation

Supports hands-free voice command control, allowing on-site medical staff to switch screens or adjust settings without touching the device. This ensures that medical staff can remain fully focused on clinical procedures, emergency care, or surgery, while complying with medical aseptic standards.

3.Precise Annotation and Image Zoom

Remote experts can freeze the image in real time and precisely mark or draw lines on the screen to indicate anatomical locations and key surgical steps. This annotated information is instantly overlaid onto the field of view of the on-site medical staff’s AR glasses, enabling seamless and precise guidance. At the same time, experts can remotely control the camera to zoom in on tiny lesions or surgical sites, significantly improving the overall accuracy of diagnosis, treatment, and surgery.

03 Core Value of the Proposal

 1. Overcoming Geographic Limitations: To enable frontline or emergency medical staff to access real-time support from top experts at any time, thereby promoting the dissemination of high-quality medical resources to grassroots levels.

 2. Improving the Success Rate of Treatment: Reduce communication errors and shorten the time required for emergency consultations and surgical decision-making.

 3. Optimizing Medical Training: Supports full-process video recording of consultations, serving as a valuable resource for subsequent teaching, clinical debriefings, and medical records.
