What is TSN?
Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Provides intelligent infrastructure and hyper-connected devices with sensing, processing and networking capabilities. These systems will generate large amounts of data, sharing the same network. As a result, real-time and mission-critical information must be transmitted within tight latency and reliability limits, regardless of other network traffic.
Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) is an emerging networking technology that provides a set of protocols and mechanisms designed to enable efficient real-time communication. TSN technology is based on the IEEE standard, and its key features include time synchronization, bandwidth guarantees, traffic scheduling, and data transmission priority control. These features ensure low latency, high reliability and predictability in the transmission of real-time sensitive data over the network.
The time synchronization mechanism ensures that each device in the network uses the same time base, thus ensuring data accuracy and consistency. Bandwidth guarantee and traffic scheduling mechanism ensures sufficient bandwidth for all types of data streams in the network to avoid network congestion. Data transmission priority control ensures that network real-time sensitive data is transmitted first to minimize data transmission delays.
