Application: Airbag ECU HiL Simulation

To create a complete HiL simulation of the airbag control unit, it is necessary to connect both the internal acceleration sensor signal (SPI) and the external acceleration and pressure sensor signal (PSI5) of the control unit. In addition, the ignition timing can be measured and analyzed using a SQUIB box; and the simulator can be connected to a PC system for data processing via a USB interface/network.

Typically, up to 6 or more PSI5 emulators are running at the same time, along with multiple SPI emulators. For coordination purposes, there is an upper level configuration that determines the signal traces corresponding to each emulator, as well as detailed settings that are used in conjunction with bus parameters. The upper level configuration simplifies the operation of the API and allows continuous control of the sensor signals.

Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation (HiL)

In the HiL application, multiple simulator boxes are connected and synchronized. Different types of sensors generate synchronized data streams for the ECUs in the airbag system, which can be analyzed and evaluated by the sensor simulation tool.

The HiL application is an extension of the sensor simulation technology. Multiple simulator boxes, even of different models, can be connected and synchronized at the same time, allowing the various sensors belonging to the airbag system to operate in unison, generating accurate ECU test data streams for high-fidelity system validation and performance testing.
