USB Interface

This device connects a 100BASE-T1 network to any computer equipped with a USB port. Once connected to the USB port, the device functions as an Ethernet interface. Without the need to install an additional onboard network card, users can use this interface to connect in-vehicle Ethernet devices (such as cameras or ECUs) equipped with an OABR port directly to any PC.

Functional overview

This interface establishes a point-to-point link between an unshielded twisted-pair IEEE 100BASE-T1 port (compliant with the IEEE 802.3bw standard) and a USB-LAN port. This device can also function as a network interface card for configuring network adapter parameters such as IP addresses and subnet masks. The converter is equipped with one DSUB9 interface (BroadR-Reach, CAN bus) and one Micro-USB connector. The master/slave configuration of the OABR channel can be set via a switch or through programming. Additionally, this device can also function as a USB-CAN interface.

Users can access the SMI registers of the 100BASE-T1 transceiver (PHY) via the CAN bus or a USB virtual serial port. This feature supports evaluating signal strength, detecting T1 port polarity, performing BroadR-Reach media tests to diagnose cable faults, fine-tuning PHY parameters, and performing general read and write operations on the registers.

    • Hongke provides a free dedicated PC application that can be used to read status information from the 100BASE-T1 USB interface. Once the adapter is plugged into a computer’s USB port, this PC tool displays the interface port status, signal quality, and T1 cable test results, making it suitable for diagnostic and testing scenarios. The tool also allows for master/slave mode configuration of the T1 port.
