Chamber wafers

I. Universal introduction

The chamber wafers are in microscope slide (75.5 mm x 25.5 mm x 1.5 mm) format with Mini Luer interface. Their key microfluidic components are the various chamber sizes. The chamber wafers are perfect for facilitating reactions such as amplification of target DNA during qPCR or extraction of a preparative amount of a target molecule from a given sample. These wafers can be used as nucleic acid extraction devices via magnetic beads by simply applying the beads and sample and using an external magnet to hold the beads in place. These procedures can be done completely manually using a pipette - no additional equipment is required except for the magnet - or semi-automatically using a common peristaltic pump found in most life science labs.

Product Type

Rhombic Chamber Wafer

The Rhombic Chamber Wafer Series has one or more rhombic chambers on each wafer. These chambers all have two inlets and two outlets, and the rhombic chambers can be arranged horizontally or vertically on the wafer, with the vertically oriented rhombic chambers being customized for use with the on-wafer sample preparation instrument ChipGenie ® edition P. The chambers are available in a wide range of sizes, from 1.5 mm to 2.5 mm, and in a variety of sizes.

Reaction chamber wafers

Chamber wafers are among the simplest but most versatile microfluidic devices. Like diamond chamber wafers, chamber wafers have one or more chambers, but in most cases each chamber has only one inlet and outlet. From basic chambers to cell culture kits - this family of wafers can facilitate many experimental setups. Chamber wafers are available in volumes from as small as 2.5 μl to as large as 50 μl. Some fluidic designs are particularly suitable for thermal cycling applications, such as PCR experiments, during which small bubbles may form in the microfluidic wafer's chambers. For undisturbed fluorescence readings, these microfluidic wafers utilize Microfluidic ChipShop's unique bubble trapping edge design, developed to keep the detection area of each chamber bubble-free.

Chamber wafers with different chamber capacities

Reaction chamber wafers have different chamber depths and volumes, but otherwise the same dimensions, and can be used to directly compare the effect of chamber depth on analysis and measurement. These wafers are useful for selecting the appropriate chamber size during the design process of integrated microfluidic devices.
