Simple to use: Simply power up the device via the CAN connector and start logging raw data. Once finished, extract the data and process it using 100%'s free open source MDF4 software/API tool to convert it to your familiar log file format (e.g. Vector ASC, PEAK TRC, CSV, etc.).

About OBD2:The CANedge1 can periodically transmit up to 32 customized CAN messages and therefore can act as an OBD2 data logger. Please make sure that your vehicle uses CAN as the basis for OBD2 communication (e.g., post-2008 U.S. production vehicles). The number of OBD2 parameters supported varies from vehicle to vehicle and only data supported by the vehicle can be logged.

  1. Connect the device to the CAN bus (DB9 adaptor cable can be used)
  2. The device powers up, automatically detects the baud rate and starts recording.
  3. Disconnect the device and remove the SD card (which can be inserted into the PC via an SD adapter).
  4. Use asammdf GUI / API to open logs and perform DBC conversion or export.
  5. Or drag and drop the MDF4 file to the conversion tool to convert it to CSV.
