MGA8410 User Interface Example
VALIDATE BEFORE DEPLOYMENT
Move performance validation to before deployment
From controlled loads to real-packet replay, validate devices, applications, and network systems under consistent test conditions.
01
Throughput and Latency
Measure throughput, latency, packet jitter, and frame loss under controlled loads to observe how the equipment performs under sustained and burst traffic.
02
Bit Error Rate and Frame Error Rate
Use BER/FER testing to verify the physical layer, data link layer, and system performance, and combine error statistics to identify abnormal behavior.
03
RFC 2544 Benchmark Test
Evaluate throughput, latency, frame loss, and back-to-back burst performance using the RFC 2544 test suite to establish a baseline for repeatable validation.
04
PCAP Traffic Replay
Upload existing pcap or pcapng files, control traffic replay based on time, reproduce business workloads in the lab, and verify system response.
BUILD & REPLAY TRAFFIC
Two traffic sources serving different authentication tasks
You can either define test packets individually or replay existing captured packets; choose the traffic generation method based on your validation objectives.
Custom Multi-Stream Sourcing
From packet definition to transmission rate, build a controllable test load.
- Define custom packets bit by bit to control frame length and payload content
- Configure the data rate, burst, and inter-frame interval (IPG); verify bandwidth and queue behavior
- Supports runt, jumbo, and IMIX packets, as well as microburst traffic control
PACKET → LOAD → TEST
PCAP Replay
Bring the existing packet captures back to the test environment to reproduce the traffic behavior.
- Upload a pcap or pcapng capture file as a traffic source
- Adjusting the playback pace through time-based bandwidth control
- Supports simultaneous traffic generation and playback, making it easy to perform repeated validation
PCAP → REPLAY → VERIFY
Configure the transmission and reception ports based on the forwarding path of the device under test. The number of ports, available interfaces, and test functions depend on the selected platform and license settings.
INTERFACES & PERFORMANCE
Make the load controllable; make measurements reliable
From multi-rate Ethernet to in-vehicle links, use hardware-based traffic generation and precise measurements to establish repeatable test conditions.
The following describes the capabilities available on different platforms; they do not represent the full range of standard features for any single model. Please verify the interface modules, data rates, and application licenses based on your testing requirements.
- 100% line-rate multi-stream packet generation, supporting fine-grained rate, burst, and IPG control.
- The application briefs for both platforms list latency measurements with 1 ns accuracy; this figure does not represent the latency of the device under test itself.
- Supports bit error rate testing, throughput verification, and error statistics at the PCS and MAC layers.
- MGA8410: 10MbE–10GbE, supporting 2.5G and 5G multi-rate Ethernet; transmitter timestamp offset control is ±500 ppm.
- XGA4250: The application brief lists 1G, 2.5G, 5G, 10G, and 25G; the transmitter timestamp offset control is ±200 ppm.
- The original manufacturer's software overview mentions the XGA4250's 10M–25G environment; for 10M/100M connections, please verify compatibility with the specific interface module.
- The standard interface series includes 25GBASE-SR, 25GBASE-LR, and 25GBASE-CR; 10GBASE-R; 10G, 5G, and 2.5GBASE-T; as well as Gigabit and 100M Ethernet interfaces.
- Support for USXGMII, SGMII, and other interfaces requires specific hardware and modules.
- For in-vehicle Ethernet, the MGA8410 is the preferred choice, supporting 100M–10G BASE-T1; BASE-RH should be confirmed based on the actual configuration.
- Supports IEEE 802.3az EEE and Low-Power Idle (LPI) generation for verifying energy-efficient Ethernet behavior.
- Supports IEEE 802.3br MAC frame preemption for TSN-related validation.
- Conduct negative testing using abnormal packets and jamming to observe the system's response to abnormal inputs.
