PCAN-M.2 (PCIe) Feature Overview
The CAN/CAN FD network can be connected to a PC via an M.2 (PCIe) interface for monitoring the CAN/CAN FD network, as well as sending, storing and filtering messages. Its small form factor makes the plug-in board particularly suitable for embedded computers, single board computers (SBCs) and compact embedded applications. The computer is galvanically isolated from the CAN up to 300 V. The board is available in single-channel and dual-channel versions. The board is available in single-, dual- and quad-channel versions.
The main feature of the new CAN FD standard (CAN with Flexible Data Rate) is the higher data transmission bandwidth. Each CAN FD frame can contain up to 64 data bits (instead of 8 bits) and can be transmitted at a bit rate of up to 12 Mbit/s. CAN FD is backward compatible with the CAN 2.0 A/B standard, so that CAN FD nodes can be used in existing CAN networks, in which case the CAN FD extension function will not be enabled.
The included Windows software PCAN-View is a simple CAN monitor for transmitting, receiving and recording CAN telegrams; the latest version supports the CAN FD standard.
